Children's Activities
The activities schedule for August 24 and 25 is shaping up to be an exciting collection of this fun adventures for all. There will be the Hummingbird Coloring Contest, Free-style Hummingbird Drawing, and the popular Make and Take paper Hummingbirds program.
The Audubon bird-call board, Face painting (of little hummers) by local artists as well as Lollipop the Clown with her Hummingbird Balloons will be there.
Demonstrates given by young-adult naturalists grown from the Nature's Neighbors programs of years past will include:
Monarch Butterfly demonstration
Hummingbird nesting materials, feeders demonstration
Chimney-swift video (video room)
Bison-bone collecting in relationship to BH Cowbirds
Bald-faced Hornet nests in relationship to Woodpeckers
Galls of many kinds in relationship to Downy Woodpeckers
Sixty bird specimens on display
Alanson plant specimen collection (110 years of age)
Tree ring guessing game
Bird specimen identification game
Children's' Hummingbird art work on display
Steamboat replica display
Minnesota River-basin display
Henderson Sauerkraut Queens will be welcoming guests intermittently.
